Gonet Academy Deepens Team Cohesion With 2026 Mid-Year Staff Retreat

Institution Reinforces Culture of Collaboration, Innovation and Employee Well-Being as Staff Reflect on Progress and Align for the Future

Gonet Academy has reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating a people-centered organizational culture with the successful hosting of its 2026 Mid-Year Team Retreat, bringing together staff members and their families for a day of strategic reflection, team building, and recreational engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing institutional excellence.

Held at Bubble Park on SKD Boulevard on Sunday, August 2, the retreat served as both a strategic planning session and an employee wellness initiative, reflecting the Academy’s philosophy that sustainable organizational success is built on motivated employees, strong interpersonal relationships, and a shared commitment to institutional goals.

The event provided staff with an opportunity to celebrate achievements recorded during the first half of the year, evaluate ongoing programs, discuss priorities for the months ahead, and strengthen the relationships that underpin the Academy’s growing impact in education and professional development across Liberia.

As organizations increasingly recognize that employee engagement directly influences productivity, innovation, and institutional performance, management said the retreat forms part of its broader strategy to build a workplace culture where staff members feel valued, supported, and empowered.

Management noted that while technical skills and professional expertise remain essential, trust, teamwork, and effective communication are equally important in achieving organizational success.

“The Mid-Year Retreat reflects who we are as an institution,” Mohammed Kerkulah, Chief Empowerment Officer (CEO), stated. “It demonstrates our belief that investing in people is one of the most important investments any organization can make.”

Human Resource Manager, Antoinette Nimely, emphasized in a memo that the retreat was intentionally designed to strengthen relationships beyond routine office interactions while creating opportunities for staff to reflect collectively on the institution’s progress and future direction.

Unlike conventional recreational outings, the retreat blended professional development with relaxation.

Through structured discussions and interactive sessions, employees reviewed institutional milestones, assessed ongoing initiatives, exchanged ideas, and reaffirmed their commitment to Gonet Academy’s mission of equipping individuals with practical skills and leadership competencies.

The retreat also provided a platform for strengthening alignment around the Academy’s core values of excellence, innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Management described the exercise as an important opportunity to ensure that every team member remains connected to the institution’s strategic vision.

“The retreat provided an opportunity for team members to celebrate our achievements, evaluate our progress, strengthen teamwork, and align our efforts with the institution’s vision and goals for the remainder of the year,” the Academy said.

One of the defining features of the retreat was its emphasis on human connection.

Staff members, accompanied by family members and children, spent the day participating in recreational activities, team-building exercises, and informal interactions that encouraged collaboration outside the traditional office environment.

Dressed in official Gonet Academy-branded T-shirts, employees proudly displayed a shared institutional identity, reinforcing the sense of belonging that management says is central to the Academy’s organizational culture.

The retreat featured a variety of team-building games and interactive challenges designed to improve communication, creative thinking, cooperation, and problem-solving.

Friendly competition, laughter, and shared experiences created an atmosphere where employees from different departments interacted freely, strengthening relationships expected to translate into improved workplace collaboration.

In another demonstration of its commitment to employee welfare, Gonet Academy ensured that transportation would not become a barrier to participation.

The institution provided transportation support through mobile money, an initiative coordinated by Finance Manager Mrs. Patience J.K. Kollie, enabling staff members to attend the retreat conveniently.

Management described the initiative as part of the Academy’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and employee well-being.

By removing logistical challenges, the Academy ensured that every staff member could fully participate in the day’s activities.

Human resource experts increasingly emphasize that organizations with strong internal cultures often experience higher employee satisfaction, improved staff retention, stronger innovation, and greater organizational resilience.

Corporate retreats have become an important management tool across both the private and public sectors because they encourage open communication, improve trust among employees, and foster collaboration that extends into the workplace.

For institutions operating in the education sector, where teamwork across academic, administrative, finance, communications, and operations departments is essential, such initiatives can strengthen coordination and improve service delivery.

Gonet Academy’s retreat reflects this evolving approach to organizational leadership by recognizing that institutional excellence depends not only on systems and processes but also on healthy workplace relationships.

Over recent years, Gonet Academy has expanded its footprint in Liberia’s professional education sector through training programs in leadership, project management, monitoring and evaluation, public relations, entrepreneurship, office administration, logistics, human resource management, and other professional disciplines.

The institution has increasingly positioned itself as a center for practical learning, workforce development, and leadership capacity building, serving students, professionals, public institutions, and private organizations.

Management believes maintaining a motivated and united workforce remains essential as the Academy continues to grow.

“Through engaging discussions, team-building activities, and meaningful interactions, we reinforced our commitment to excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous growth,” the Academy said.

As the retreat concluded, participants departed with renewed enthusiasm, stronger professional relationships, and a shared determination to build on the Academy’s successes during the remainder of the year.

Management expressed appreciation to every staff member for their dedication, active participation, and continued commitment to advancing the institution’s mission.

“As we move forward, we remain inspired by our shared mission of transforming lives through education and professional development,” the Academy stated.

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to creating an environment where employees can thrive personally and professionally, emphasizing that its continued growth will remain anchored in teamwork, innovation, and a shared pursuit of excellence.

With the Mid-Year Team Retreat successfully concluded, Gonet Academy says it remains focused on equipping, empowering, and elevating both its workforce and the thousands of learners it serves across Liberia.“Together, we will continue to grow, innovate, and create lasting impact.”
