Gonet Academy Bids Farewell to a Dedicated Staff as He Departs for Studies in Rwanda

On Friday, November 21, 2025, Gonet Academy held a warm and emotional farewell ceremony in honor of one of its youngest and most dedicated staff members, Marcus Terry Zeo, Jr., who has departed Liberia to pursue Software Engineering studies at the University of Lay Adventist of Kigali (UNILAK) in Kigali, Rwanda.

Zeo, who serves as Administrative Assistant, was celebrated for his humility, hard work, and unwavering commitment to the institution—qualities that many speakers described as rare in someone so young.

Zeo’s journey has been marked by what his senior workmates termed as service and dedication. Reflecting on Zeo’s early beginnings at Gonet Academy, Administrative Coordinator T. Davidson Zleh recounted how the young man first came to the institution as a high school student eager to volunteer.

“Marcus would come around when we were at our old office in Congo Town and sit, asking what he could do,” Zleh recalled. “He has been such a hardworking and humble guy. He would help us paint, clean the offices, and often stayed late. Bringing him on board as staff after his high school graduation was deserving—he earned every bit of the recognition he received.”

Human Resource Coordinator, Antoinette N. Nimely, also praised Zeo’s versatility and team spirit, noting that although his official duties were in administration, he never hesitated to assist other units.

“Whenever he was called upon to do something, he never complained,” she said. “Marcus has been one of our pillars at Gonet Academy.”

On behalf of the management, the HR Coordinator provided a beautifully designed African cloth, woven in Liberian flag colors, that was presented to Zeo as a gift.

An Emotional Message of Gratitude

In a heartfelt statement, Zeo expressed profound appreciation to his family, colleagues, and mentors, noting how significantly Gonet Academy shaped his personal and professional development.

“From the moment I entered this building, everything about me changed positively,” he said. “Everyone here has done something meaningful in my life.”

He paid special tribute to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy, Gonet Academy Founder & Chief Empowerment Officer (CEO), Mohammed Kerkulah, his supervisors, and colleagues who guided and molded him.

“To my supervisor, Mr. Zleh—you have been more than a boss. You have been a big brother and mentor. To our CEO, Mr. Mohammed Kerkulah, thank you for your mentorship and for always showing me the path to success.”

Zeo emotionally thanked his mother, “the woman considered my only girlfriend,” for her sacrifices and unwavering support.

He emphasized that his journey to Rwanda is not a departure from Gonet Academy, but a step toward bringing back knowledge and skills that will benefit the institution.

“This is not goodbye,” he said. “I am going to prepare and return so that together we can move Gonet Academy to where we want it to be.”

Gonet Academy’s Media and Communications Strategist, William Q. Harmon, lauded Zeo for embodying all of the core virtues needed to succeed in life.

“Marcus already possesses humility, hard work, dedication, and teamwork,” Harmon said. “Thank you for being a humble teammate. We wish you the best as you travel for your studies. Stay humble and trust in God always.”

Zeo leaves behind a strong legacy of service and camaraderie at Gonet Academy. His journey to Rwanda marks not only a personal milestone but also a reflection of the Academy’s commitment to empowering young people and promoting human capacity development.

As he embarks on this next chapter, the Gonet Academy family believes he will continue to shine—and return even better equipped to contribute to the institution he loves.

Marcus arrived safely in Kigali and was received by one of our team members, Levi Singbeh, who also studies in Rwanda
