Gonet Academy Secures National Accreditation Under the Ministry of Education’s New TVET Accreditation Framework
Gonet Academy has officially received a Certificate of Accreditation from the Ministry of Education, after successfully completing the Ministry’s new national accreditation process for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. The accreditation follows rigorous assessment, verification, and institutional review conducted by the Center of Excellence for Education Administration, Certification, Accreditation & Licensing (CEEACAL) and the Ministry’s technical departments.
The newly issued certificate—signed by the Deputy Minister for Instruction and the Assistant Minister for the Bureau of TVET, Special & Inclusive Education—confirms that Gonet Academy has “met all criteria, standards, and requirements to merit this certification,” and possesses the capacity and credentials to deliver Advanced TVET programs in full compliance with national standards.
The accreditation, awarded on November 5, 2025, is valid for one year and renewable following subsequent review.
A Process Rooted in Compliance and Institutional Integrity
While this accreditation marks the completion of Liberia’s new TVET certification and accreditation system under the Ministry of Education, Gonet Academy has long operated within the legal framework of the Ministry.
In June 2022, Gonet Academy (under its parent institution GonetAfrica, Inc.) received its first formal recognition from the Ministry of Education. The certificate remained valid until June 2023, after which renewal was delayed due to the 2023 General and Presidential Elections and the subsequent administrative transition.
In 2024, the Ministry placed all renewals on hold as it reviewed and restructured the national accreditation system. During this period, Gonet Academy received an official Letter of Authorization from the Agricultural and Industrial Training Bureau (AITB)—the government’s regulatory body for technical, vocational, and industrial training institutions and programs—affirming that the institution remained legally recognized and authorized to operate.
Therefore, since its inception, Gonet Academy has consistently operated in compliance with government regulations, maintaining full legal standing throughout the transition to the new accreditation system.
A Comprehensive and Rigorous Assessment
The MOE accreditation process, completed in 2025, was extensive and covered every dimension of institutional quality, including: Verification of legal documents, governance structure, and administrative systems; Physical assessment of learning facilities, classrooms, and instructional environments; Review of all curricula, learning materials, and training methodologies; Evaluation of facilitator qualifications and HR compliance; Examination of institutional policies, student protection systems, and quality assurance mechanisms; and Verification of financial/tax compliance, including payment of education fees to the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA)
Following these assessments, CEEACAL and the Ministry concluded that Gonet Academy meets the full standards required for Advanced TVET accreditation.
“A confirmation of our integrity and commitment.”
Gonet Academy founder and Chief Empowerment Officer (CEO), Mohammed Kerkulah, described the accreditation as both a validation of excellence and a recognition of the Academy’s long-standing compliance.
“This accreditation is a powerful confirmation of Gonet Academy’s commitment to quality, integrity, and national standards,” he said. “Even before this new accreditation system was introduced, Gonet Academy consistently operated with government authorization—first through our Ministry of Education recognition in 2022 and later through AITB in 2024.”
The completion of this new accreditation process, Kerkulah noted, “shows that our systems, our curriculum, our governance, and our training environments meet Liberia’s highest benchmarks for technical and professional education. I am proud of our team and grateful to the Ministry of Education for its leadership.”
Strengthening Liberia’s Workforce Through Quality Education
With this accreditation, Gonet Academy is well-positioned to expand its role as a major contributor to Liberia’s workforce development, youth empowerment, and skills transformation agenda, contributing to the achievement of the Government’s national development plan under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
Aligned with Pillar 6 (Human Capital Development) of the AAID, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4: Quality, Equitable and Inclusive Education, and 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, the African Union Agenda 2063, and the ECOWAS Vision 2050, the Academy remains committed to delivering impactful certificate, diploma, and advanced TVET and professional programs that equip learners with practical, job-ready skills needed in today’s evolving labor market.
As Liberia strengthens its national TVET system, Gonet Academy remains committed to innovation, quality assurance, student success, and national development.
